Mother’s Kisses Can Cure Almost Anything

Mothers, when the baby reaches our arms, we cannot resist kissing him. It sounds exaggerated, but it’s true: we want to eat it with kisses. He grows and we continue kissing him. Sick, falls or hurts himself, and we kiss him again. Mother’s kisses abound and have many meanings.

Kissing your children is not only the expression of the love you have for them. The kisses, indeed, help the children to be emotionally well. That, more or less, we all know. But they can also help your overall wellness to be optimal.

Mother’s kisses not only express love

The story The day that God created mothers , by the well-known writer Paulo Coelho, says that God incorporated in the creation of the mother the kiss that has the gift of healing anything, from a wound to a suffering of love.

Child receiving kisses from mother

The mother’s kisses not only reinforce the bond of love that binds them, but also offer a pleasant sensation that releases endorphins and oxytocin, which strengthen the children’s immune system. Educating with kisses is the best thing that can happen to parents and children.

The kisses we give our children will never be excessive or spoiled. Kisses when they wake up, go to sleep, drop them off or pick them up at daycare or school reinforce their trust in their parents. A trust that, cultivated since childhood, will pay off when adolescence arrives.

Mother’s kisses protect

Kisses from the nursing mother protect the baby’s immune system. Breast milk is not only self-regulating to provide the nutrients your child needs at each stage of growth. It also passes antibodies to protect you from diseases like asthma, allergies, or obesity. And this is evidenced by this study published in the Venezuelan Archives of Childcare and Pediatrics.

Your immune system processes this information and creates the antibodies that your baby specifically needs and that pass through your breast milk.

The mother’s urge to kiss her baby enhances the newborn’s natural immunization ; a fascinating example of how a woman’s body works to protect her baby, which is activated through the mother’s kisses.

Mother’s kisses heal

Mothers' kisses are healing.

The study comparing mother’s kisses to homeopathy for healing minor wounds is bogus. The news was reportedly published by The Science Post , a satirical magazine, and cited a study carried out by the University of Pittsburgh and published in The Journal of American Parenting . The institution denied having carried out that investigation.

However, every mother (and also parents) who responds to their child’s cry when he suffers an injury or a fall knows that his love brings comfort. Your kisses will not disinfect a wound, but they will provide the support the child needs to calm down.

The baby or child in unexpected pain will instinctively look for his parents. While mom or dad kisses him, they hold him covered in their arms,  oxytocin is activated, the hormone that is released with kisses and hugs.

This oxytocin brings pleasure to the child, which is undoubtedly beneficial in mitigating pain and making treatment more effective. A loved baby or child feels better ; if he is emotionally well, medical treatment will be more effective.

Daddy kisses count too

In defining the roles of mother and father, emotions were reserved for women-mothers, as if men-fathers did not have them. Without a doubt, machismo is responsible for these behaviors.

Kisses between parents and children.

However, today it is increasingly common to see parents involved in the upbringing and care of their children. Parents are seen daily changing diapers and bathing their babies, educating and kissing their children. Children benefit from parents who strongly express their love and affection.

A study by professionals from Concordia University in Canada, published by the  Canadian Journal of Behavioral Science , showed that children whose parents are involved in their upbringing  are children with better behavior patterns and more intelligent.

The research, conducted among 186 children, found that those who have an active father figure that is present from early childhood , develop fewer behavioral problems and have greater intellectual abilities, even in homes with low socioeconomic levels.

The more kisses the better

Parenting is the time to provide the affections that will build the bonds that unite parents and children. Babies and children gladly accept kisses from their parents.

When the intense days of adolescence arrive, they will surely be less open to expressions of affection, especially public ones. So isn’t it better to kiss our kids while they enjoy it?

Saving it for later may be too late. The bond of love, attachment and emotional support is fostered from that first day that they come into our lives.
